Code of Conduct

American Legion California Boys & Girls State Code of Conduct


  1. 1. Delegates will be available for the entirety of American Legion California Boys & Girls State (CBGS) program and will not request permission for late arrival or early departure. Delegates will report to CSU, Sacramento (CSUS) no later than 10:00am on Saturday, June 21, 2025, and will not request to leave earlier than 11:00pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, nor later than 9:00am on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

  3. 2. Delegates will follow the CBGS Policies, Code of Conduct, CSUS policies, directions of CBGS/CSUS staff and other rules published in the CBGS program guide.

  4. 3. Delegates will participate in all scheduled activities of the CBGS program and understand that failure to do so will result in being deemed as not having completed the program.

  5. 4. Delegates will adhere to the American Legion Policy regarding proper conduct and respect of the United States flag and National Anthem.

  6. 5. Delegates will listen to all speakers with attention and respect and will not distract themselves or others with electronic devices during program activities.

  8. 6. Delegates will respect all property of the CBGS program and CSUS.

  9. 7. Delegates will remain at CSUS unless they check in and out with the CBGS Administration Office or Assistant Chief Counselor’s Office with a parent/legal guardian.

  10. 8. Delegates will write or email their family and sponsoring American Legion Post while at CBGS.

  11. 9. Delegates will respect the rights, opinions, and feelings of their fellow citizens at CBGS.

  12. 10. Delegates accept financial responsibility for any damage they cause to CSUS and CBGS property and/or the loss or theft of residence hall keys, fobs, and/or access cards.

  13. 11. Delegates will always conduct themselves with the utmost character and refrain from the use of profanity or other inappropriate language.

  14. 12. Delegates will not have food delivered to campus by any means.

  15. 13. Stairways, corridors, lobbies, and lounge areas must always remain unobstructed. These areas are considered state property and may not be annexed or seized.

  16. 14. Delegates will not engage in any form of bullying (in person or cyber), rowdyism, or other harmful or hurtful conduct.

  17. 15. Delegates will not bring to, use, or display at CBGS any firearms, knives, weapons, fireworks, water pistols, rubber balloons, sexually suggestive material, tobacco, e-cigarettes, marijuana, nicotine, alcohol, or unlawful drugs or other items which may cause injury or distraction.

  18. 16. Delegates will not campaign for any office, or prepare any campaign material, prior to their arrival at CBGS or prior to filing for office.
