Letter from the Director

TO THE CITIZENS OF AMERICAN LEGION CALIFORNIA BOYS & GIRLS STATE 2025:

Welcome aboard! We are indeed delighted that you have been afforded the opportunity to participate in the 2025 session of California Boys & Girls State,   sponsored by The American Legion, Department of California. After 84 previous sessions of Boys State, you are attending the third-ever American Legion     California Boys & Girls State. Congratulations on your selection!

You have been selected to attend because you are considered the most outstanding students in your high schools. This is the ideal opportunity for you to     learn about the operation of government before you assume the responsibilities of being a voting citizen. Use this opportunity to learn as much as you can   about the duties and obligations of citizenship.

Please remember that you have a responsibility to the people who placed their confidence in you and made your attendance here possible. After you return   home, report on your experiences here to your school, your sponsoring American Legion Posts, and other civic groups. While here, you are expected to   follow the rules of American Legion California Boys & Girls State, the directions of your counselors, and to always conduct yourselves in a respectful manner.

Our alumni of over 50,000 graduates have distinguished themselves in many fields of endeavor. When you graduate to the ranks of the alumni, make an       extra effort to improve your community, state, and nation, so this country we all live in will continue to be the greatest in the history of the world.

The American Legion considers it a privilege to serve you, and we feel that by doing so, we are making a sound investment in our country’s future.

  Sincerely,

  Gary Leach, Director

American Legion California Boys & Girls State
