The following is the Visitor Policy for American Legion California Boys & Girls State

Approved Family Visitors

Parent or Legal Guardian

Immediate/Household Family (visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult from the approved family visitor list throughout their visit)

Delegate’s Significant Other (NOTE: Delegate Significant Others are only approved to visit events at the University Union. Delegate Significant Others under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult from the approved family visitor list throughout their visit).

Visitor Rules and Restrictions

  1. All people not registered as delegates, staff or CSUS personnel present during the operations of California Boys & Girls State (CBGS)are considered visitors for the purposes of this policy.
  2. Visiting CBGS is only allowed for previously approved people and at approved times and locations as listed below.
  3. Unless otherwise stated herein, visitors are only permitted in first floor offices, recreation rooms, lounges, and lobbies within the residence hall complex as well as outdoor areas around residence halls. All family visitors must be escorted by either the person they are visiting or a member of the Program staff. Visitors are to use designated visitor restrooms only.
  4. ALL visitors must complete the CBGS Visitor Request Form online at least 24 hours before the requested visit. Requested visits will be approved, or denied, by CBGS Senior Staff as soon as is practical after receiving the request. Guests are instructed not to travel to CSUS for a visit prior to receiving notice that the request has been approved. All approved visitors must immediately report to the Assistant Chief Counselors (ACCs) office in Sierra Hall after arriving at CSUS to be checked in and to receive visitor credentials.
  5. Visitors must conspicuously display the provided visitor credentials at all times while visiting.
  6. Visitors are responsible for complying with CSUS parking regulations and for any related parking fees. Failure to comply may result in CSUS issuing citations and/or the towing of the vehicle.
  7. The CSUS Servery is not available to Approved Family Visitors.
  8. At the conclusion of the visit, or at the end of the approved visiting period, visitors are to return to the ACCs Office to sign-out and return their visitor credentials.
  9. Visitors who are ONLY attending a general assembly at the University Union do not need to apply for a visitor pass and do not need to check in at the ACCs office.
  10. Visitors are to adhere to the CBGS Code of Conduct and Policies during their visit. Visitors found to be in violation of CBGS Code of Conduct and Policies will be asked to leave immediately and will not be allowed to request future visits.
  11. Visitors are limited to 8 aggregated visiting hours per program year.
  12. Visitors requesting to visit more than 8 aggregated hours in a program year must complete all American Legion Youth Protection steps including background check, youth protection training and California Mandated Reporter training and receive a written exemption to this policy from the Director and Chief Counselor.
  13. Visitors shall not bring food, beverage, art/campaign material or any other items listed as prohibited in the Code of Conduct during their visit.
  14. Visitors’ presence at CBGS is at the pleasure of the program Director and Chief Counselor and visitor approval can be denied, or withdrawn, at any time without cause.
  15. Visitors shall not wear CBGS (or previous California Boys State) counselor or delegate shirts during their visit.
